MOTHERBLESSING

Are you pregnant or have a friend who is pregnant that you want to celebrate? We offer the service of booking a motherblessing where we prepare and hold a ceremony to celebrate, honor and support the pregnant woman on her journey.

The aim is to:

- Gather together with friends and celebrate one of life's important milestones: pregnancy and motherhood
- Supporting the pregnant woman in the transition to the new - becoming a mother (for the first time or again) and letting go of the past that has been.
- Empowering the pregnant person for childbirth and strengthen her before labor and birth.

The doula who will lead and the friends and relatives who are invited to participate are put in contact in a Facebook group or an online meeting where we prepare the content of the ceremony based on the mother's wishes, what the participants want to contribute and various nice suggestions for elements that are usually appriciated or beneficial to during a motherblessing.

The doula then puts together a plan. On the appointed date, the doula arrives at the place where the ceremony will take place about 1.5 hours before and prepares and prepares.

During the ceremony, the doula presents the ceremony and presents and leads the various steps, but with everyone's participation and contribution.

After the ceremony, it is usually very nice to have lunch or dinner together, e.g. in the form of a pot-luck or a prepared meal.

- A plan outlining the elements of the ceremony 
- Preparation of the space with cut flowers, candles and decorations
- A doula who leads the ceremony with everyone's participation
- Light snacks and refreshments such as fruit, chocolate and tea.
- Back-up ceremony holder (e.g. in case of illness)

The friends and relatives who will participate receive an info-pdf and are put in contact with the doula who will lead the ceremony in a Facebook group or invited to an online meeting (where the mother is not present).

Based on the mother's wishes and based on suggestions from the doula (on elements that are usually nice during a motherblessing) and based on what the participants want to contribute, the doula makes a plan.

On the appointed date, the doula comes to the place where the ceremony is to take place about 1.5 hours beforehand and prepares and decorates.

After the ceremony, it is usually very nice to have lunch or dinner together, e.g. in the form of a knytis or similar.

Example 1: All friends and relatives bring a bead. We go around the circle and everyone puts their bead on a string and sends words of support to the pregnant woman. This forms a bracelet or necklace that the pregnant woman can wear during the birth to feel the support of her friends and family.


Example 2: Before the ceremony, everyone has been asked to find out and write down the names of their maternal line, i.e. the women in direct descent on the mother's side. During the ceremony, we go around and everyone reads out as many names as they have managed to find and at the same time we wrap a ball of yarn around our wrists for each name we say. The yarn ties us all together in the circle and when we cut it, everyone has a yarn bracelet representing the support of their ancestors to save and for the pregnant woman to take with her during labor.

Example 3: The friends and family members participating in the ceremony have been asked in advance if they would like to contribute something such as a song, a poem or text they have written or something else to celebrate and strengthen the pregnant woman before motherhood or birth.

Example 4: A candle is passed around the circle and everyone is invited to write their best wishes and words of support to the pregnant woman. When the birth starts at home, the pregnant woman can light the candle during early labor as part of her mental and emotional preparation.

If you want to be in another room than in your home, there is an additional cost for this (usually about 300-600 SEK depending on the location and if you want to stay and eat after).

TIME: The ceremony takes about 2 hours and the preparations on site take about 1.5 hours.

LOCATION: In the pregnant woman's home or in a friend's home. It is also possible to be in a room that I arrange with an additional cost.

LGBTQ: If you are a couple with two expectant mothers (for the first time or once again), we will hold the ceremony for both of you if desired. If you who are pregnant are trans, we of course adapt the layout, language and symbolism based on what feels right for you.

Parental Blessing: If both parents want to be celebrated in their process together, it is of course possible to adapt to that. It can be a beautiful way to be strengthened together.
